One-to-one Yoga Practice
Kundalini Yoga demystified for everybody to raise
Kundalini Yoga is a powerful physical practice that transforms our sensory system.
It works on the mind-spirit level as any other style of yoga potentially does but with the plus of being very very powerful.
You’ll be amazed at how good you feel when you start practicing Kundalini Yoga.
One single class might already leave you with a subtle sensation of wellbeing beyond the physical usual relaxation of any workout, as if you are slightly floaty and at peace in yourself.
The one-to-one way
In the ancient times, the only way to transmit wisdom was from one teacher to one student only. Later on, schools have been created and institutionalized wisdom became knowledge. Since then, people have been left alone to navigate their own lives and make sense of the whole while trapped in the fabric of the reality. One-to-one is the closest space to align the energies to pass on experience to experience, wisdom to wisdom.

We practice dynamic sequences of exercises called kriyas, which are not complicated postures that take years to master, actually the opposite. Most of the asanas are simple movements structured in sequences, with breathing technique and mudras –hands gestures. A meditation and mantras or music, or both are always part of the experience.

A short bespoke home practice for you to take away after any class

The practice of kriyas and meditations in Kundalini Yoga are designed to raise complete body awareness to prepare the body, nervous system, and mind to handle the energy of Kundalini rising.
Resetting the entire sensory system is maybe the main work we do for preparing ourself in receiving perceiving and allow the movement of energy.
In Kundalini Yoga, we have a vast and rich repertoire of kriyas, meditations and breathing techniques as methods to cleanse the nadis, or subtle channels and pathways, to help awaken Kundalini energy.
The majority of the physical postures focus on navel activity, activity of the spine, and selective pressurization of body points and meridians. Breath work and the application of bandhas (3 yogic locks) aid to release, direct, and control the flow of Kundalini energy from the lower centres to the higher energetic centres.
benefits
The practice works therapeutically on systems and organs of the body, while synergically creates a feedback effects cascade on your mental, emotional and spiritual health.
So, whether you choose to focus on a critical physical aspect, you can be sure to be positively affecting your whole self. Everything truly is connected to everything else, and everything is energy! Where a blockage and stagnation of energy creates a health issue, the same flow of energy can fix it.
Stuart Sovatsky (1998) adapts a developmental and evolutionary perspective in his interpretation of Kundalini Yoga. That is, he interprets Kundalini Yoga as a catalyst for psycho-spiritual growth and bodily maturation. According to this interpretation of yoga, ’the body bows itself into greater maturation [...], none of which should be considered mere stretching exercises.’
